  • Updated Blog site to CommunityServer 2008

I've just updated the site to use the latest version of CommunityServer, 2008. The main changes visitors to the site will see is that my previous theme I was using is no longer up. I've defaulted the theme for the site until I can spend a little time customizing the look and feel. The back-end management of the site looks cleaner than 2007 and I look forward to digging into the options later. Technorati Tags: CommunityServer , Blog , Upgrade

  • Upgraded to CommunityServer 2007 (v3.0)

I've upgraded the site to CS 2007 and am trying out a few new visual themes from the recent CS2007 theme contest . I'm also considering elimination of the "single blog configuration" I've been using for CommunityServer because of the amount of effort it requires each time there's a new upgrade to CS I need to install. If I get rid of the single blog config, it means that any existing links out there to my old configured site will no longer work. Therein lies the crappy choice... Fortunately in CS2007...
  • Now running CommunityServer 2.1 release

I've updated my blog site to CommunityServer v2.1 . I was having some trouble with the configuration of the v2.0 site when it was trying to process blog post trackbacks and pingbacks . So I decided to update the site software to the latest version and reconfigure it from a clean state. It looks like the services that weren't quite working before have been fixed by the clean reconfig. So now it's time to start digging into the new features!
  • Fixing a single blog config in CommunityServer 2.0

I've mentioned some of these problems before in previous posts here and here. I've set up CS2.0 on my home server in a " single blog configuration ". Unfortunately, that doesn't completely cover all of the things that should be changed to make the single blog configuration work. Here are a few more... After following the standard instructions for setting up a single blog config, you'll probably notice a few things. In your exceptions report (My Settings, Administration, Reports, Exceptions Report...
  • Top ten reasons Geeks make good fathers

Ok, after writing about how it isn't always easy being married to a Geek, and ten reasons Geeks make good friends, I have one more Top Ten of Geekdom for you inspired by Maryam's geek blogs: Ten reasons why Geeks make good fathers. And they do! They really are uniquely qualified for this role. My husband says I never blog nicely about him, so honey, here you go:...

  • Migrated to CommunityServer 2.0beta3

So I've updated my blog software to beta3 of CommunityServer v2.0. It looks spiffy with some new functionality I'm sure I'll have some fun with, but the conversion wasn't all giggles. Configuration of the server for a single blog was easy enough with the help of a fellow CS blogger , but I've got a problem with the url for the blog images not being the same. Some configuration file black-magic seems to be in order, and I left my wand at work. If I can't figure out a good way to fix it, I'll likely...

  • I wont be payin' off that morgage by selling this blog, I guess...

Saw this on Presto Vivace Blog . That one's worth about 23x what mine is. =8) My blog is worth $1,129.08 . How much is your blog worth? This is something like another site I saw, but can't quite remember... it's a site that valuates your URL. I'm not sure what for (cost per link? cost for domain?) or how. Anyway, you wont see me driving around in a Lamborgini anytime soon. ;)

  • Spooky biological affectations...

Try this... it's just weird! http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/col_rapidAfterimage/index.html I remember vision tricks like this when I was a kid in the video arcade playing "spy hunter". When playing this game you'll often find your eyes fixated on a region of the screen near the top of the display. As a result, after a while the car you're driving at the bottom of the screen would just disappear!

I am a Defender-ship . I am fiercely protective of my friends and loved ones, and unforgiving of any who would hurt them. Speed and foresight are my strengths, at the cost of a little clumsiness. I'm most comfortable with a few friends, but sometimes particularly enjoy spending time in larger groups. What Video Game Character Are You? Or... I am a Thrust-ship . • I admit it. I have a problem...

I've got a secret crush on the Toyota Prius. But $30K Canadian is pretty steep. You shouldn't fool yourself into thinking that you're going to save a lot of cash on fuel savings. For sure, the Prius gets about 2x or better mileage than my existing Hyundai, but that only amounts to about $480/yr. I admit that the purchase of this vehicle would still be an emotional purchase. I think it's a cool car. Fight the urge... fight it...
