Test Post from Windows Live Writer

I'm just testing out the Windows Live Writer application.

The WYSIWYG editors that CommunityServer provides is good, but it doesn't compare to the rich interface that Microsoft Word provides.  Windows Live Writer seems to promise more of the Word experience and less of the manual HTML editing that's usually required to write a well formatted post.

Here's an excerpt from the download page.

Windows Live Writer is a desktop application that makes it easier to compose compelling blog posts using Windows Live Spaces or your current blog service.

It looks nice so far...   Let's see how this post goes.

Okay, that was pretty slick.  The only minor problem I had was getting images uploaded to the blog for inclusion in the post.  Live Writer allows you to get around this limitation of my current blog software (CommunityServer).  This required me to set up an FTP folder and login so I could push the files directly to the images folder in the blog, and then Live Writer could put the files there and set up the image reference to use the associated URL.  So that's pretty cool...

What I then found out is that I can go back in and edit posts using Live Writer as well - which is what I'm doing right now.  ;)

Hmm.  Handles pasting of images from the clipboard too?  That's handy...

Okay, it's officially deserving of a Digg.

It's unfortunate that there are no vertical scrollbars visible though...  I have to select text and drag down to force the document to scroll.

Here's a few more reviews of the software:
